Coachella 2016 Weekend 1: Day #3
_MG_3058edited.jpg

Well today I'm officially back to reality (sucks), but my mind is certainly still in the desert. Sunday is always my favorite day at Coachella. Everyone is in such good spirits come Sunday and they definitely packed in a lot of quality acts to showcase like Miike Snow, Flume, Disclosure, and Major Lazer (one of my favorite performances of the weekend!) for the last day. Nothing makes me happier than being in the desert with friends enjoying good beats! I wish I could do Coachella once a month, seriously! (too much? haha)

Going backwards and starting with my last look of the weekend, I opted for a cold shoulder crop top with a matching high slit skirt from ShopWantList, and it was absolutely perfect. My favorite part about the outfit is I can wear these two pieces together again or separately so it's really versatile. I've been loving cold shoulder tops all the time since last summer, but it seems as though this trend is on full force this year, with literally every celebrity and blogger sporting them lately.

Before I left, I got my blonde freshened up by Mikhayela Curry, and I'm OBSESSED. I highly recommend her for color. Check out her Instagram here.

Right now Farfetch has a great selection of cold shoulder tops. I put together some of my favorites that I've been lusting after for Spring and Summer. Farfetch is great because they have a bunch of designer boutiques in one place where it's easy to shop for high end well curated items. Here's some I found that I absolutely adore if you're looking to invest in this look.

The gallery below you can shop this exact top and skirt set I"m wearing! It's a definitely a huge compliment getter, everyone kept asking me about it! You're sure to be a show stopper in this piece :)

Stay tuned for part 2 of this post- Days 1 and 2 at the festival and parties and some pics from the show!

We're 1! #happybirthdaytothess

Today is our birthday!!!

Yes, we are officially 1. Is it weird that it feels like my own personal birthday? I can't believe how much I have poured into this blog- sometimes to the point of total insanity. If I could tell you how much time, energy, money, thought, etc running this thing requires I would, but even I can't start to count it all up. That being said I really love this damn thing and I'm so excited and proud to say we've made it to a year old. It's been an incredible experience to learn so much about blogging, building a website, SEO, product placement, PR, marketing, keyword searches, Pinterest, Instagram, photo filters, and that's just the beginning!  It's all enough to make a girl's head spin off. Looking back on starting this blog I had NO IDEA how hard it was going to be or how much work it required, but I'm 100% glad I have stuck it out and kept it going! It's been such a great learning experience and I've also undeniably had so much fun. If you are thinking about starting a blog whether it be about fashion, food, music, travel, WHATEVER it is you're interested in, DO IT!! I had zero experience, this was my first adventure in blogging, so if I can do it so can you :)

I also couldn't have done it without the help of my two amazing photographers Brian Gove and Michele Andersen so huge thanks to them for sticking it out with me. Thank you for being here for the ride and for always supporting us!

Anyways--- To commemorate our day of birth I'm counting down 5 of my favorite looks from the past year. It was really fun going through all these posts and remembering all that went into each one. It was actually really difficult to only pick 5-- It's truly been an amazing year and thank YOU for reading my blog right from the beginning (and all the new readers too!) I love all of the feedback I've received and I'm truly grateful.

xx, Genevieve and The Style Sauce

The Top 5: 2014-2015

#5: Welcome to The Style Sauce

#5's look is from our very first post! Here wearing a Re:Named maxi dress purchased from Princepessa boutique on Abbot Kinney. Full post here.

#4: Black Tie

#4 is the Monique Lhuillier dress I wore for Jenny Bernheim of Margo and Me's engagement party. Such a STUNNING dress! I don't always get such a chance to dress up, and it was truly a night to remember. Many congrats to her and Freddy on their wedding this past weekend. Full post on this dress and their engagement party here

#3: Fall for White

fall for white

#3 is this all white/neutral look. It was exceptionally hot despite being November in LA when I blogged this look. I like breaking the rules-- like white after labor day :) You may have seen this look on OOTD Magazine or as featured by Sam Edelman as a #samsgirl as well. Full post here.

#2: Think Pink

#2-- If there's anything I love it's fashion for good, and it's been a mission of mine since the beginning to try as much as possible to buy clothes that give back and/or are ethically sourced. This post was for Breast Cancer awareness in October. Full post is here.

#1: Festival Fashion

festival fashion 1

#1 is..... Festival fashion!! No surprise here... Music and fashion go hand in hand for me and it's always a debate which one I love more- which is why I've started incorporating music into ALL my posts! This post has been to date the nearest and dearest to my heart with also the most writing and personal stories incorporated. Relive Festival Fashion (and it's kick ass playlist) in all it's glory here.

That's about it for our birthday post! Tonight we are celebrating turning 1,  AND the opening of a new restaurant in Santa Monica, Red O! Stay tuned to see the gorgeous dress and pictures from the event on the blog and on Instagram in the next week. xo

Boho Spring

White blouses. Gladiators. Lately I can't get enough of either of these things. There's always something so fresh about a white shirt- whether it be a tee shirt or flowy top like I'm wearing for today's post. I accidentally just bought 4 in a row before I even realized my obvious obsession for lack of color in the top region. Gladiators that lace up to the knees have been a fixation of mine actually since last spring and I was elated to see them be such a big trend for Spring/ Summer 2015. While I can't afford the Chloe ones I've been lusting after for the past few months without maybe being homeless, I opted for these Zara ones. These sandals are actually very comfortable and have been fitting in easily with a lot of my wardrobe. I always have a penchant for boho inspired pieces-- I do live in Venice Beach after all.

The bag in this look is a vintage 1990's Louis Vuitton epi leather that I just bought off of Tradesy, and I am obsessed with it. It is the perfect size and color to go with everything. I usually opt for a cross-body or shoulder bag so this purse is actually a totally new silhouette for me but I am loving the change! There is something so nice about a structured bag that adds a pulled together element to anything that you're wearing. It's perfect for adding a polished element to a slouchy or boho outfit, or you can wear it with a more business-y look too! I can't wait to try it with more outfits and shoe combos!

Song of the week is Rivver- Am I Ok feat. Milk and Bone. It's a great down tempo chill song and it's brand new on my Spotify playlist on the home page as well. Enjoy!
